Hi! I’m Jim Letko.
Welcome to my blog.
My name is Jim Letko. This blog is intended to follow my journey through the federal prison system. I’ve been with my wife,Patti, for 32 years and we have been married 27. We have raised five children together. Kelsy is 26, Connor is 23, Fiona is 21, Gabriel is 17 and Charlotte is 14. Family is the most important thing in my life. I will use my time at Lewisburg Federal Prison to be productive and get back to my family as soon as possible.
I made some poor decisions in my previous career, where I worked with my two brothers in a business that provided mail order diabetic supplies and medications to seniors with diabetes. This highly regulated business went through many changes as Medicare cut reimbursements over 70%. In 2016 we started selling our patients medications and that business area had a very profitable year in 2016. In 2017 the government raided our offices and launched an extensive investigation that ended in 2019 with them indicting me and 4 co-workers for conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud. They seized all of the money in the business, most of my family’s personal savings and forced the closure of that business where I had to lay off over 100 employees. They accused us of doing many things wrong, most of which were not accurate.
I was not sure what to do to support my family. In the winter of 2020 I started a mobile auto mechanic business (Pittstown Auto Service) where I replaced brakes, changed oil, replaced timing belts, suspension parts, etc in customer drive ways through some very cold weather. In the spring of 2020 we started Pittstown Pool Service. Each winter I gathered evidence to prepare myself for our trial which kept getting delayed. Finally in August of 2022 I decided it made the most sense (for me and my family) to plead guilty to shipping medication refills without patient consent during a period of time in 2016. This past June, I was sentenced to 66 months of Federal Prison Camp. We requested the judge delay my reporting date to November 1st so we could finish up the pool season and not leave our customers hanging. Throughout my entire life I have tried to be honest and not take advantage of anyone. Those of you who know me and my family hopefully feel the same way. I will likely be away in Lewisburg PA for at least 2 years, possibly 3 years.
We appreciate your support through this very challenging time. The current plan is for us to return to our business upon my return.
